Dan Ashley is an American journalist presently working at KGO-TV as a television news anchor and reporter. He hosts ABC News at 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 9:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. He joined the station in 1995. Ashley graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in English and Speech Communication. In June 1996, he replaced anchor Richard Brown on the 6:00 p.m. and 6 p.m. news broadcasts.

Moreover, Ashley was given an inside look at the White House while there for a one-on-one interview with President Barack Obama. Throughout her career, his notable interviews include George w. Bush, General Colin Powell, Rob Reiner, Tom Brokaw, Ben Carson, and Rahm Emmanuel.

Ashley worked for ABC 11 Eyewitness News-WTVD as a Television News Writer and Editor. He was responsible for writing and editing daily newscasts at the ABC-owned and operated television station in the 25th largest market in the country. After 2 years he moved to WCBD-TV in Charleston, South Carolina where he worked as an anchor and managing editor. Ashley worked at the station for 8 years then moved to his current station on KGO-TV.

In addition, Ashley is the longest-tenured male news anchor in the history of ABC 7 in San Fransisco. During the time Hurricane Hugo struck Charleston SC in 1989, he was the last broadcaster to remain on the air covering the events. Also, in 2005 he reported from Poland on the March of the Living with Bay Area Holocaust survivors.

Throughout his career, Ashley received the prestigious DuPont Columbia and the Edward R. Murrow Awards. Also, she was inducted into the Silver Circle of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences San Fransisco, Northern California Chapter. In addition, Ashley won numerous Emmy Awards for his reporting, anchoring, and producing a National Emmy Nomination for reporting.

Furthermore, Ashley is on the board of directors of the Friends of Camp Concord (FOCC) a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Camp Concord. He also hosts an annual golf tournament fundraiser for the group. The CASA is an annual benefit concert to raise funding and awareness for both CASA of Contra Costa County and Friends of Camp Concord.

In 2015, Ashley became the chairman of the board of directors for Music In Schools Today(MUST). Additionally, he serves on the board of the Bay Area American Red Cross, Court Appointed Special Advocates(CASA) of Contra Costa Couty, and the Commonwealth Club of California.
