Jana Shortal is an American journalist who currently works as a co-anchor and reporter for Breaking the News on KARE 11. She joined the station in December of 2003, just in time for the temperatures to fall below her point of freezing. Previously, Shortal worked at Fox4 in Kansas City and KRCG in Jefferson City. She has won five regional Emmys in her journalism career. Moreover, Jana is a member of the National Association of LGBTQ Journalists.
Regarding her schooling, Shortal received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism. She loves running, having been in road competitions for over 10 years. She is also a writer and says she is working on making her journal into something that a lot of people will read.
