Janet Shamlian is an American Emmy award winning-journalist who currently serves as a a CBS News correspondent based in Houston, Texas. Her reporting is featured on all CBS News broadcasts and platforms including “CBS Mornings,” and the “CBS Evening News”. It is also featured on the CBS News Streaming Network and CBS News’ premier 24/7 anchored streaming news service.
At CBS News, Janet has reported on numerous issues including the mass shootings at the El Paso Walmart and Gilroy Garlic Festival and the California fires. Prior to joining NBC News, Shamlian was a stay at home mom to five children. Before that she worked as a reporter at WBBM-TV in Chicago, KHOU-TV and KPRC-TV, both in Houston, and WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Moreover, in a career that spans more than three decades, Shamlian has covered many of the biggest national and international stories of our time. Most recently she covered the mass shooting at an El Paso, Texas, Walmart for CBS News.
