Jeon Jung-Kook popularly known as Jungkook is a prominent Korean singer, songwriter, and dancer. He is also the youngest vocalist and songwriter of BTS. BTS is a very popular South Korean boy band with many good songs.

Jung wanted to be a badminton player when he was young. He however changed his mind when he saw G-Dragon perform “Heartbreaker” on television and decided to be a singer. In 2011, Jeon auditioned for the South Korean talent show Superstars K in Daegu.

Despite not being chosen, seven entertainment companies offered him casting offers. He chose to become a trainee of Big Hit Entertainment after seeing current BTS leader RM perform. In the summer of 2012, Jung-kook joined Movement Lifestyle in Los Angeles to receive dancing classes. Later, the same year he appeared in the music video for “I’m Da One” by Jo Kwon and he was the backup dancer of Glam.

Jung made his debut as a BTS member in June 2013 with his single on the album 2 Cool 4 Skool. He has sung only three solo songs under BTS. Kook then released “One Dream One Korea” in collaboration with various artists in 2015. The song was in memory of the Korean War. It was released on 24 September and on 15 October it was presented at the One K Concert in Seoul.

In 2016, he released his first pop track “Begin” on the album Wings. In the song, he told his story of his relocation to Seoul and his musical journey and he showed gratitude to the band members for their guidance. His second was “Euphoria” which was released on 5 April 2018. It accompanied a nine-minute short film as the introduction of the BTS’ “Love Yourself” Series third part. Euphoria was produced by Dj Swivel and it was in position 5 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. His third solo was “My Time” which was in the 2020 album, Map of the Soul: 7. “My Time” was at position 84 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Both Euphoria and My Time are the first and second longest-charting K-pop solo tracks on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales. They spent 72 and 68 weeks respectively.

Moreover, Jungkook is the main producer for the two BTS songs, “Love is Not Over” and “Magic Shop”. On 25 October 2018 President of South Korea ordained Kook with the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit. In 2018, Jeon performed “We Don’t Talk Anymore with Charlie Puth during the MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards. He had previously covered the song twice, once solo and the other time with BTS member Jimin.

On 4 June 2020, Jeon produced “Still With You” and posted it for free as a part of BTS’ yearly debut collaborations. He has impacted the release of many other songs, namely, Like A Star, I know, I’m in love, Still with You, “We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2”, “No More Dream”, “Circle Room Cypher”, Love Is Not Over, Run, Dead Leaves, Youth, Still with you, Your Eyes Tell, The Journey, In the Soop, Telepathy, Stay, and Film Out.

Other than music, Jung has made an appearance on Television. His appearance in 2016 includes being a special Host for Music Bank, Show! Music core, Being a cast member in Flower Crew and Celebrity Bromance. In 2017 he was the Special Host in Show Champion. In addition, Jeon has been in the music video “Perfect Christmas”.

According to a survey by Gallup Korea, Jung is the most loved celebrity of the year in South Korea. In 2016 he ranked at position 20, then 17 in 2017 then 8 in 2018. He was also first for 10 weeks in a row for most beloved celebrities in China by Hi China magazine. In 2018 his singing video was most retweeted in South Korea that year.

Jung also gained the nickname “Sold Out King” as what he is seen using almost always sells out, like the novel “I Decided to Live as ME” by Kim Soo-Hyun became the best seller after he was seen with it. Moreover, he started “Modern Hanbok” a fashion trend in the Korean entertainment industry. Other celebrities began wearing similar clothes as Jeon.

Jeon was 2019 and 2020’s most-searched male K-pop artist on Google and YouTube. he ranked 1st on Tumblr for 3 consecutive years and had the most retweeted tweet on Twitter in 2019 and second in 2020.

Jung also broke the record of the most real-time viewers in V Live history with 22 million+ viewers on his solo live broadcast. He had previously broken the record in 2018 with 3.7 million viewers worldwide. In June 2021 Jeon’s pictures are being used to promote the legalization of tattoo’s in South Korea by the Justice Party.
