Lynn Smith is an American journalist who currently works for HLN as an anchor and correspondent. In the fall of 2013, she was chosen anchor of Weekend Express, the network’s popular news, and lifestyle program, and in 2019, she was made a host of On The Story. Lynn formerly worked as an anchor for NBC-Early TV’s Today and MSNBC’s First Look before joining HLN. She was also a fill-in newsreader for Weekend Today at the time, and she covered midnight breaking news at MSNBC.
Smith had worked for WNBC’s local station News 4 New York as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor the previous year. Since June 2007, she worked as a general assignment reporter for NBC-owned station WCAU in Philadelphia. Her responsibilities were expanded in January 2008, when she was promoted to co-anchor of NBC 10 Weekend Today on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Prior to joining WCAU, Lynn worked as an assistant producer on NBC-Today TVs before being promoted to producer. Her job as an online correspondent for todayshow.com was expanded in 2007, and several of her stories were broadcast on Today. She was also a freelance general assignment reporter for NBC-owned Hartford, Connecticut-based station WVIT.
Smith studied Mass Communications and wrote for the university newspaper at Miami University in Ohio, where she graduated with honors. She interned at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles upon graduation. In addition, in 2001, she joined the NBC Page Program in Los Angeles and quickly advanced to the Today Show. In 2007, she garnered the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Media Award.
