Mike Mibach Biography
Mike Mibach is a renowned American journalist who currently serves as a general assignment reporter from Wednesday to Sunday at KTVU FOX 2 News in Oakland, California. He joined the station in March 2005 and since then, he has assisted in launching Mornings on 2 Saturdays and Sundays, co-anchoring alongside Claudine Wong. A few years later, he helped in launching the 9 a.m. newscast, The Nine, as well as KTVU FOX 2 News at 4.
Currently, Mibach is the anchor of 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. hours, KTVU FOX 2 News at Noon, and reports for several special projects. Dreams do come true according to Mibach. At the age of 21, he made a promise to his late father telling him that he was leaving the Bay Area to go on a journey. He promised his father that he would return to the Bay Area as a reporter. Mibach kicked off his career at WIBW in Topeka, Kansas. During that time, his news director told him he had to learn prior to becoming a reporter. Basically, he cut him a deal. He would begin as a photographer, and over the weeks and months, he taught him about reporting. All thanks to Jon Janes. Shooting and editing taught Mibach a ton about how to report, how to write, and how to tell a story. After a while, Mibach was one man banding in Topeka.

From Topeka, Mibach moved to KVOA in Tucson, Arizona where he had his first five days a week reporting gig. After a few years, he had the honor to anchor the weekend evening newscasts. Furthermore, Mibach loves his 49ers and SF Giants and going to Lake Tahoe. He enjoys relaxing on the beaches along the Marin and Sonoma coasts and also the trails up on Mt. Tam.
He as well coaches youth sports and loves being in the Bay Area, Working in the Bay is an honor for him. Mibach promised a long time ago to his dad, and he has been blessed to make the round trip home.

Furthermore, he transferred to the University of Colorado at Boulder, Go Buffs, to pursue broadcast news. Mibach was denied entrance into the J-School 2 times. He never quit. He applied a 3rd time and was accepted and graduated in May 2000.
