Phil Blauer is a seasoned American award-winning journalist who presently works for Fox 5 San Diego, California as a weekday anchor at 7 p.m. and as a breaking news anchor at 4,5,6,10, and 11 p.m. Prior to joining Fox5 News, Phil worked as a weekend anchor/reporter at KFMB, KCBS, KCAL, and KCOP in Los Angeles, as well as KESQ in Palm Springs. He’s also been on Crime Watch Daily, Investigation Discovery, CNN, and 48 Hours, among other shows.
Phil has reported on big national and international stories and has spoken with six US presidents. He has won multiple Emmys, as well as the Edward R. Murrow Award for Investigative Reporting and awards from the San Diego Press Club. Phil began improving his journalism skills while working on student newspapers throughout high school in Santa Ana, California. Blauer earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communications-Print Journalism from California State University, Fullerton.
Phil experimented with radio, hosting weekly public affairs shows that aired on a number of Southland stations. However, something was missing: the visual part of storytelling. He went on to earn a master’s degree in Broadcast News from the University of Southern California.
