Storm Field is a retired American television meteorologist who is known for his time in the New York media market. He followed his father who was a long-time New York weatherman into the business. His parents gave him the name Storm for being quite very active while still in the womb.
Storm’s first foray into weather casting came as part of WABC’s Eyewitness News program. He was hired by the station in March 1976 and first appeared on television when covering Hurricane Belle. Additionally, Field did the weekend weather broadcasts as well as the 11 pm weather broadcast on weekdays. On November 29, 1976, Storm became a permanent weather forecaster, replacing the suspended Antoine who had been dismissed after an inappropriate comment concerning a rape story five days earlier. Later in 1991, he left WABC and was replaced by Sam Champion.
Furthermore, on August 24, 1992, Storm joined WCBS where his father worked. This was the first time the two worked together. After working there for a while, he left and joined WWOR in 1997. While there, Field reported on the station’s 10 pm newscast and served as WWOR’s chief meteorologist Fortunately, his father got hired in the same station, thus making it their second time working together. Finally, Storm left WWOR in 2007 following cutbacks at both WWOR and sister station WNYW.
