Tom Wait is an American journalist who currently serves as a general assignment reporter at CBS/KCAL9 since joining the station in March 2013. He covers the Los Angeles metro region and the Inland Empire. In addition, Wait for anchors the streaming network, CBSN Los Angeles.
Wait was born and raised in Southern California and he worked in New York City, Kansas City Missouri, and Detroit prior to coming home. He says reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9 is a dream come true. While growing up in Claremont, Wait made it a norm to watch the legendary KCAL9 anchor team of Jerry Dunphy and Pat Harvey.
In his career, Wait has covered various major news events. He started his career in 2003 at News 12 The Bronx and News 12 Brooklyn. After working for a couple of years, Wait joined the CBS station in Kansas City, where he covered the biggest tornado to ever occur in Kansas, a storm that destructed the town of Greensburg.
While at the ABC station in Detroit, he covered politics, crime, and the auto industry, including an assignment that took him to Washington DC. to report on the auto bailout hearings. Regarding his schooling, Wait attended the University of California, Berkeley, and received a master’s degree in journalism from New York University.
