Bianca Solorzano Bio
Bianca Solorzano is an American journalist currently serving as correspondent for CBS News in New York City and appears on “The Early Show” amongst others. She has been a CBS News correspondent based in New York since July 2006. Solorzano had been a New York-based correspondent for CBS Newspath, the 24-hour news service of CBS News, since July 2005. During that time she also contributed to The Early Show and the CBS Evening News weekend editions.
Moreover, at CBS Newspath, she covered many major news stories, including the London terror bombings and the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Previously, Solorzano was a freelance correspondent for CBS Newspath, where she reported from Rome on the funeral of Pope John Paul II and the Vatican’s conclave.
Prior to joining CBS News, she was an anchor for MSNBC (2003-05), where she covered breaking news stories, including the ongoing war in Iraq. Additionally, she covered the capture of Saddam Hussein, the 2003 bombings in Turkey and the Rhode Island nightclub fire. She was also the solo anchor of the morning show, “First Look,” when it premiered in 2003.
Before that, Solorzano was a weekend anchor and weekday reporter for KCRA-TV Sacramento, Calif. (1999-2003) and WBRE-TV Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (1999). She began her career as a producer, anchor and reporter for WIVT-TV Binghamton, N.Y. (1996-98).
She was the recipient of a New York Associated Press Broadcasters Association Award for Best Interview of the Year in 1998 for her exclusive interview with convicted child killer Waneta Hoyt.
