Charles Kelley Biography
Charles Kelley is an American singer, songwriter, and lead singer and founding member of the country music trio Lady A, which was formed in 2006 and is signed to Big Machine Records. Kelley, Hillary Scott, and Dave Haywood founded the country music group Lady A as Lady Antebellum in 2006a and released their debut album in April 2008.
Additionally, Charles graduated from Lakeside High School in Evans, Georgia, and later enrolled in the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. While there he was a member of the Nu Zeta chapter of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He graduated later with a degree in finance. In mid-2005, he decide to pursue his musical career where he made the move after his brother Josh, who was a pop musician at the time. He bought a house in Nashville and convinced him to come to live there so they could write songs together.
Furthermore, in January 2010, the music group Lady A released their sophomore album, Need You Now, which was sled off by the five-week number one and crossover hit, ”Need You Now.” It also peaked at number two on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 and is 6x certified Platinum. All three members co-wrote eight of the eleven songs of the album and produced alongside Worley.
Moreover, after years of singing, in October 2015, the group appeared on Good Morning America to announce they will be taking some downtime after their Wheels Up Tour finishes. They continued to do shows throughout 2016. What’s more, in June 2020, the band announced they were changing their name to Lady A in light of the original name’s Confederate origins.
