Chris Wragge Biography
Chris Wragge is a renowned American news anchor currently serving as a co-anchor at CBS 2 New York. He hosts the station’s This Morning and Noon together with Mary Calvi. Previously, Wragge worked as a co-anchor of “The Early Show”.
Wragge graduated from Mahwah High School where he was an avid supporter of athletics. He received a football scholarship to the University of New Hampshire, a public land grant research university. Wragge graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications to pursue a career in professional sportscasting.
Chris began his career as a sports reporter for WMUR-TV in Manchester after he graduated from college. He worked as a fill-in anchor and reporter for WVIT-TV in Connecticut. In addition, he held a position on a nationally syndicated entertainment show called Entertainment Tonight until 1997. Later on, in 1998, Wragge became a sports director and anchor for a nightly sports newscast that aired on NBC called News 2 Houston in Houston, Texas.
He as well went to work as a presenter of ASK DIY, Travel Channel, and HGTV. Wragge worked as a field reporter for the PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series for various NBC telecasts from 2003 to 2004. He then proceeded to become a play-by-play announcer in George Michael’s absence in 2004. Wragge later joined CBS 2 in November 2006.
Chris started at CBS as a sports anchor for the 5:00p.m, 6p.m, and 11p.m newscasts. Later on, he transitioned to news anchor and covered major events such as Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to New York, and the 2008 presidential election among others.
