Emily Chang Biography
Emily Chang is an American journalist, executive producer, and author. She is the anchor and executive producer of Bloomberg Technology, a daily TV show focused on global technology where she speaks to top executives, investors, and entrepreneurs. Additionally, she is the author of Brotopis: Breaking Up the Boys’ Club of Silicon Valley, which alleges sexism and gender inequality in the tech industry.
Chang graduated from the Punahou School in 1998 and joined Harvard University where she earned an A.B. (magna cum laude) in social studies. Prior to joining CNN in 2007, she served as a reporter at KNSD, NBC’s affiliate in San Diego, California. While there, she filed reports for MSNBC and won five regional Emmy Awards. She started her career as a news reporter at NBC in New York.
Furthermore, from 2007 to 2010, she served as an international correspondent for CNN, based in Beijing and London. While in Beijing she reported on a wide range of stories, including the 2008 Beijing Olympics, China’s transformation and its environmental consequences, the 2008 South China floods, the aftermath of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, and President Obama’s historic visit to Asia among others.
In 2010, Emily joined Bloomberg Television and On February 28, 2011, she became the anchor of Bloomberg West as the only network or cable TV show to be based in San Francisco, California. She has interviewed top tech executives, investors, and entrepreneurs, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, and former Yahoo CEO Marrissa Mayer among others.
