Jonny Dymond Biography
Jonny Dymond is a well-known British journalist who currently works as a Royal Correspondent for BBC News. Dymond earned an MSc in Public Administration and Public Policy from the London School of Economics in 1993 after studying politics at Durham University from 1988 to 1991.
Dymond joined the BBC as a researcher in 1994 and later rose through the ranks to become a producer on Newsnight. Following that, he worked as a correspondent for the BBC World Service and BBC World Service Television, first covering British politics for the BBC World Service and BBC World Service Television, then moving to Washington, DC in 2000. From 2001 through 2005, Jonny covered 9/11 from Washington, DC, before moving to Istanbul to cover Turkey and the Middle East.
Dymond became a royal correspondent in 2017 after working as a foreign correspondent in Brussels for a few years. In an interview for Town and Country in November 2019, Dymond slammed Prince Andrew for agreeing to be interviewed by Emily Maitlis about the controversy surrounding his friendship with American billionaire and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, calling it a “fantasy” that Prince Andrew could have changed public opinion in a single 40-minute interview.
During a royal trip to Australia, New Zealand, and some Pacific Islands in 2018, he told the same magazine that Prince Harry was nasty to members of the press, but he declined to go into detail about what Prince Harry had said to them.

In calmer conditions, Daymond is also a political correspondent for the BBC World Service and a presenter on BBC Radio 4’s Sunday morning news magazine show, Broadcasting House. Dymond was fined £230 in 2008 for possessing cannabis after a search at Vilnius airport discovered two grams of the narcotic among his belongings. Dymond admitted to buying cannabis at a party but said he packed it accidentally into his suitcase.
