Lee Cowan Bio
Lee Cowan is an American journalist currently serving as the CBS News National Correspondent for the CBS Evening News and a substitute anchor for CBS Sunday Morning. Cowan has been an NBC News correspondent based in Chicago since July 2007. Cowan contributes to all NBC News properties, including “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams,” “Today” and MSNBC.
Prior to joining NBC News, Cowan had been a CBS News correspondent based in the network’s New York and Dallas bureaus. Moreover, he covered a wide range of stories for the “CBS Evening News with Dan Rather,” including reporting from Ground Zero on the September 11 attacks, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, last summer’s conflict in Beirut, and the devastating Tsunami in Indonesia.
Before that, Cowan was a correspondent for CBS Newspath. He covered events throughout the United States, as well as overseas for the nation’s CBS affiliates.
