Mike Sobel is a retired Canadian weather specialist and co-host of Edmonton’s #1-rated Global News Morning. Since the mid-80s, Edmontonians started watching Sobel on ITV, currently Global Edmonton on shows like Four O’clock, Hi Q, Disney Afternoon, and various telethons and New Year’s Eve countdowns.
Sobel was raised in Toronto and went to York University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He spent most of his time working at the university’s radio station which triggered his interest in the media industry. Mike kicked off his radio career in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, and later headed to Regina and several other station si Edmonton (CFRN, KING, CJAX, CISN, and MAGIC 101).
Mike’s best radio memory was taking 2 listeners on a trip to New York where they went to a Garth Brooks concert in Central Park in front of 250,000 fans.
