Sean Desai Biography
Sean Desai is an American football coach who is the defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League(NFL). He is the first NFL coordinator of Indian descent and previously served as the associate head coach and defensive assistant for the Seattle Seahawks. Additionally, he previously served as an assistant coach for the Chicago Bears, Boston College, the University of Miami, and Temple University.
Sean began his career at Temple University where he was a defensive and special teams coach from 2006 until 2010. The same year, he served as the special terms coordinator for the Owls until 2011 when he joined the University of Miami. While there, he served as their assistant director of football operations.
What’s more, in 2012, he joined as the running back coach and special teams coordinator at Boston College. In addition, as he studies, he received an undergraduate degree in philosophy and political science, with a minor in biology from Boston University in 2004. He also earned a master’s degree in higher and postsecondary education from Columbia University. Later in 2008, Desai earned his doctorate in educational administration at Temple University.
Additionally, in 2013 Desai was hired by the Chicago Bears as a quality control assistant under head coach Marc Trestman.. He worked with the Bears’ defensive backs and linebackers while also assisting the special team coaches. Fortunately, he was retained by head coach John Fox in 2015 and Matt Nagy in 2018. As of February 28, 2023, he was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles as their defensive coordinator under head coach Nick Sirianni. He replaced Jonathan Gannon, who departed to become the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
