Sean Lewis Biography
Sean Lewis is an award-winning American journalist currently serving as an anchor and reporter for WGN. He is the anchor of the station’s Saturday Morning News and also Sunday Morning News, with the expansion of weekend news in September of 2016.
Previously, Lewis was the weekday anchor for WGN News at 5 and WGN News 9 on the station. Lewis started working at the station in June 2008. He returned to Chicagoland after serving as the weekend anchor at WWBT-TV, the NBC affiliate in Richmond, Virginia, for almost two years.
Lewis grew up watching Chicago news and has worked as a reporter in Fargo, Madison, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Rockford, Illinois. He was born and raised in the Wisconsin town of Kenosha. He went to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to study.
Lewis also served on the board of the AIDS Care Network in Rockford and was nominated Best Newswriter by the Illinois Associated Press. Lewis was also recognized by the Associated Press in 2009 for his unique story on the first student journalists on the scene of the NIU massacre.
