Shannon Sohn is an American Emmy Award winning journalist. Currently she serves as a news reporter at WABC-TV Eyewitness News in New York City. Sohn became the first helicopter reporter to win a national Emmy Award.

Shannon has been a member of the Eyewitness News Team for the last ten years. As a helicopter reporter at the helm of the 5 and 6pm newscasts, Shannon has covered every major story in the last decade from the Staten Island Ferry Crash to the big blackout of 2003, to the Steam Pipe Explosion in Midtown.

Prior to joining WABC-TV Eyewitness News in New York City Shannon worked at WCTC as a weekend news anchor. She filled a vacancy in the station’s aerial traffic reporter spot, which was being vacated by Dan Rice who was heading to WABC-TV in New York City. Sohn won a reporting award from the Associated Press while at WCTC. Sohn began doing airplane traffic reports for New York City radio stations WABC, WHTZ and WPL

As a Emmy award winner journalist Shannon has won twice. First she won a Peabody Award for her coverage of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. She then went on and won a local Emmy Award for “Instant Breaking News” for her coverage of the crash. The clip was submitted for a national Emmy Award which Sohn won, making her the first helicopter reporter to win a national Emmy.
