Stacey Sager is a renowned American journalist presently working as a reporter at ABC 7 in New York City. She joined the Channel 7 Eyewitness News team in 1996. She has covered a wide range of stories, from local, national, and international stories.

Sager has studied in Chicago, Boston, and Washington. She was born in Flushing, Queens, and she grew up primarily in Dix Hills, Long Island. Stacey attended Tufts University and graduated with a major in political science. Later on, she earned her master’s degree in broadcast journalism from the Medill School at Northwestern University.

Sager has done various stories including the Bush-Gore presidential race, the war in Kosovo, the A Qaeda prisoners in Cuba, and the execution of Timothy McVeigh. Also, she covered the death of JKF junior, the crash of TWA flight 800, the horrific attacks of September 11th, and the pandemic.

Throughout her entire career, she has received numerous Emmy nominations and has won 4 Emmy awards for coverage of Hurricane Isaias’s aftermath, the effects of cold weather on Long Island, and the WABC breast cancer special.

Most notably she received the prestigious Michael P. Metcalf Media Award from the National Conference of Christians and Jews. Furthermore, in 1999, Sager completed a revealing Eye Witness News special on how she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 30. It was the toughest decision-making process faced by women in crisis. Later on, in 2011, she faced another cancer diagnosis of pre-invasive ovarian cancer in the lining of her fallopian tubes.

She had BRCA1, a genetic mutation that increases the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. During this period, she also decided to take her views throughout the journey again. In addition, Sager was honored with numerous humanitarian awards and was cited for her volunteer work with the American Cancer Society.

Additionally, Sager has worked with organizations such as TEALWALK and Basser Center to help women with ovarian cancer and BRCA-related cancers. She as well worked with Pink Aid to raise money for women struggling with breast cancer and was a participant in the American Cancer Society’s annual “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
