Amber Rupinta is a renowned American journalist who presently serves as an anchor of the 4:00 and 5:00 evening newscasts on ABC11 Eyewitness News. In addition, she is a meteorologist and reports on different stories throughout the Triangle. Rupinta came to ABC11 in February 2004 and served as the weekend morning co-anchor for five years. Afterward, she served as an early riser for ABC11 Eyewitness News This Morning for eight years prior to joining the evening team.
Some of the most notable stories Rupinta has covered for ABC11 include Presidential candidates Donald Trump, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton battling for N.C. voters, several hurricanes, the Conagra plant explosion, a terrorist attack at UNC-CH, as well as the Carthage nursing home massacre that claimed the lives of eight people.
Before joining WTVD, Rupinta served at WCAU, the NBC affiliate in Philadelphia, and WHAG in Hagerstown, MD. She kicked off her career behind the scenes at WJZ in Baltimore prior to serving as a reporter on the Baltimore Sun High School Sports Show.
