Dina Bair Biography
Dina Bair is an Emmy award-winning American journalist who is currently serving as the anchor for WGN Midday News. In addition, Bair is the medical reporter for the “Medical Watch” segments on WGN Midday News, WGN Evening News, and WGN News at Nine. Bair joined the station back in September of 1994 as a full-time general assignment reporter. From December 1994 to December 1999, she was the anchor of WGN Weekend Morning News. Moreover, Dina traveled to Italy in 2013 to cover the election of the new Pope. She was reporting live from Vatican City.
Prior to joining WGN-TV, Bair worked at CLTV in Oak Brook as an anchor and reporter. Before that, she worked as an anchor, reporter, and producer at WHOI-TV in Peoria. Additionally, she served as a field producer at WMAQ-TV in Chicago. Bair has won multiple awards, including 9 Emmy awards, various Associated Press awards for both anchoring and reporting, and a Peter Lisagor Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. Similarly, she was recognized as a Fellow by the National Press Foundation for the “Cancer Issues” seminar in Washington, D.C.
Bair’s most notable story of her journalism career is when she spent a month reporting from inside the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Memorial Hospital.
