Lee Goldberg is an American meteorologist well known for his local and international weather and climate coverage. Currently, he is working as an ABC Eyewitness News Chief Meteorologist at WABC-TV, New York since July 1996. He anchors Eyewitness News Accu-Weather coverage at 4 pm, 5 pm, 6 pm, and 11 pm. Previously, he worked as a WTVH-TV weather broadcaster covering the 1993 unknown Blizzard.
Before beginning his career, Goldberg attended Cornell University, New York in 1994 graduating with a Bachelor of Science in meteorology. While at his university, he interned at WCVB-TV and WHDH-TV both in Boston, Massachusetts. His broadcast career in meteorology began as a private weather forecaster reporting for utilities and ski areas. In Canada and United States, he worked as a weathering agent. He kicked off his career to the public at WTVH-TV in Syracuse, New York covering the infamous Blizzard of 1993 that impacted central New York. Lee was now fully hired after he graduated from college. He served there for 2 years, reporting on the winter of 1995-1996 that buried Syracuse in more than 15 feet of snow.
Goldberg appeared on Good Morning America on July 23, 1996, as a substitute for Sam Champion, whom Goldberg replaced at WABC-TV in 2006. He has appeared in the local broadcasts, formerly as the station’s weekend forecaster since September 28, 1996. It is known that his interest in the world of weather began when he was 12 years old. When he turned 14 years, Lee started broadcasting his first weather reports to his hometown Canton, Massachusetts on Canton Cablevision.
