Leslie Lopez Biography
Leslie Lopez is an American certified broadcast meteorologist currently serving as a morning meteorologist at ABC7 Eyewitness News at 4 a.m., 5 a.m., and 6 a.m. newscasts on weekdays. She arrived at the station in 2016. Lopez obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University where she also pursued broadcast meteorology. Leslie as well earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from UC Riverside. Lopez is certified as a broadcast meteorologist by Mississippi State University.
A SoCal native, Lopez hails from Chino Hills and attended Pomona Catholic High School where she graduated. She became part of ABC7 after working for a couple of years at KUSI in San Diego as a weekday morning weather/traffic anchor, fill-in anchor, and host. Prior to that, she served dual roles at Bakersfield NBC affiliate KGET, where she was a weekend weather anchor.
In addition, Lopez loved all her roles from reporting, and hosting, to anchoring and to weather. However, her love for science and the challenge of meteorology led to her calling. Leslie co-hosts “On The Red Carpet” at the Academy Awards alongside Karl Schmid, George Pennacchio, and Roshumba Williams.
During her free time, Leslie likes spending time with her husband and young son. She also likes traveling, golfing, dining, reading, writing, home improvement projects, and dreaming.
