Micah Materre is an American journalist for WGN Evening News at Five and Six and WGN News at Nine and Ten. Before being appointed anchor of WGN News at Nine in 2019, Materre was co-anchor of WGN Midday News from January 2003 to October 2009. She joined Chicago’s WGN-TV in January 1998 as a WGN Morning News co-anchor and medical reporter.
Moreover, Micah has anchored all of the newscasts at WGN and covered entertainment news and special assignment stories, including the historic inauguration of America’s first black President. Similarly, she reports and co-produces the “Chicago’s Very Own” bi-weekly segment for WGN News and she is the host of WGN’s public affairs program, “People to People.”
Materre spent eight years at WJBK-TV in Detroit, where she was the main anchor and general assignment reporter. Her work at WJBK garnered numerous awards and accolades. This included an Emmy and an award from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
