Reba Hollingsworth Biography
Reba Hollingsworth is an award-winning American journalist who serves as an anchor and reporter at WTVR-TV, CBS 6. Hollingsworth was born in Dallas, Texas, and brought up by her parents in Houston alongside her sister. She graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism from Texas State University in San Carlos, Texas.
Reba kicked off her broadcast career in 1994 at KAVU-TV in a small Texas town, Victoria. She was the anchor of weekend newscasts and also worked as both anchor and photographer for her own news stories. After 9 months, she landed a job at KTXS-TV in Abilene, Texas. She served as a primary anchor and education reporter for five years prior to heading to Richmond in 2000.
During her time at WTVR, Hollingsworth began as a morning reporter and Saturday morning anchor. After a short while, she rose through the ranks to become a co-anchor of CBS 6 This Morning. In addition, she served as a reporter for Health Team 6. In 2005, Hollingsworth left CBS 6 and went to Alexandria, Virginia along with her husband.
Hollingsworth was a freelance reporter and anchor in the DC-region television market for WTTG, WBAL, Hearst Broadcasting, and CNN Newsource where she had the chance to cover national politics from Capitol Hill and the White House. In August 2009, Reba returned to Richmond at CBS 6. She resumed her previous role as a co-anchor of CBS 6 This Morning.
Hollingsworth made this decision due to her little girl, Jillian. She always considered Richmond a good place to raise a family. In addition, Reba garnered the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award and The National Association of Black Journalists Salute to Excellence Award for the documentary, “Richmond’s Slave Trade: Breaking the Chains of Silence.” She is also a member of The National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
