Tammie Souza Biography
Tammie Souza is an award-winning and certified American meteorologist currently serving as a meteorologist at CBS 2 in Chicago. She is among the handful women in the country with both the prestigious CBM (AMS) Certified Broadcast Meteorology Seal of Approval awarded by the American Meteorological Society and the NWA Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association.
In addition, both seals represent meticulous educational requirements in atmospheric science and the highest level of competency in communicating complicated weather, water, science, and climate information. Since childhood, the weather has always been Souza’s passion when her grandfather took her flying. After seeing her first tornado, she fell in love and she can’t imagine doing something else. A deep love of weather runs in her family. Souza’s sister is as well a broadcast meteorologist, her brother is an airline pilot and her father served on the NASA space program.
Souza is happy to return home. Previously, she worked for NBC 5 and FOX 32 in Chicago. She also made stops in Philadelphia as the chief meteorologist at WCAU, Tampa/St Petersburg at WTSP as the chief meteorologist, and Milwaukee as a weekday meteorologist at WDJT. Furthermore, Souza participates in various organizations and charities involving Red Cross, Environmental Preservation, Climate Change, and Pet Adoption. She is also involved in Pediatric Brain Tumor Research after her son Caleb survived a brain tumor while a child.
Souza’s interests include her Spanish-Portuguese descent, health and fitness, snow skiing, organic gardening, water skiing, flying, scuba (PADI certified), cake decorating, and home remodeling.
