Alden German Biography
Alden German is an American meteorologist presently working for the First Alert Storm Team, WHAS-TV in Louisville, Kentucky. You can catch him on the 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. newscasts. German joined the First Alert Storm Team in October 2019. German is a native of the Midwest. He was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas. However, he spent several years living overseas in the Caribbean in the little island nation of the Commonwealth of Dominica. Living in the Midwest and the Caribbean exposed him to different types of weather and extremes.
German grew up as one of the children who were afraid of thunderstorms but liked snow. An outbreak of tornadoes ripped through his home in Kansas City in 2003. While in his house, he was spared, the occurrence solidified his fear of storms. Alden finally learned that the people on TV appeared to know the future. therefore, he began watching the news to get an idea of what the weather would be like. That as well triggered his interest in broadcasting.
German graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science and a Minor in Journalism from the University of Kansas. While in college, he helped in developing a weather department for the student-run television station KUJH-TV. He as well has a special opportunity to fill in and does forecasts for the hyper-local cable station that served Lawrence and the surrounding small communities.

Upon graduating, Alden moved north to Lincoln in Nebraska to work at KLKN where for under two and a half years served as a meteorologist and reporter. During his stay, Nebraska saw wild weather like one of the snowiest winters ever and the disastrous flooding of March 2019 that he covered firsthand.
During his free time, German likes going to the gym or reading a book. He is always looking for something new to read and the locally-owned bookstores are his favorite. Moreover, German loves animals and he volunteered with the Capital Humane Society in Lincoln and looks forward to doing so in Kentucky. He is thrilled to get outside and find out what Kentuckiana has to offer this Midwest transplant.
