Eva Andersen Biography
Eva Andersen is a regional Murrow Award-winning and 3-time Midwest Emmy-winning American journalist who currently works as a reporter at KARE 11 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She joined the station in September of 2021. Previously, Anderson worked as an anchor and multimedia journalist at WOI-TV in Des Moines. Moreover, she loves to write, shoot and edit her stories. You can catch her on a regular basis running around in sparkly shoes with a camera in hand.
Andersen graduated from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City. Additionally, she obtained her Master of Science degree in a documentary in 2017. She graduated in the top four of her class, receiving the Joseph A. Pulitzer traveling fellowship.
Moreover, Andersen loves digging into all kinds of stories, whether it’s highlighting the personal fallout from the QAnon conspiracy after the 2020 presidential election, or even a lighthearted story where she can get creative. In 2021, Eva received a Regional Murrow award for a series she wrote, shot, and edited regarding how low-income and refugee communities were recuperating from the August 2020 derecho storm across Iowa.

Before joining the field of journalism, Andersen worked for nearly seven years as an artist and entertainer in New York. She did improv and sketch comedy at the People’s Improv Theatre and Upright Citizens Brigade. In addition, Eva studied jazz saxophone as an undergrad and performed the sax at NYC jazz clubs, and soloed at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem on various occasions during Amateur Night. During her stay in New York City, she also interned at Saturday Night Live and The Colbert Report.
Eva was born and raised in Center Point, Iowa: a small town near Cedar Rapids in the eastern part of the state. She likes to drink espresso, spend quality time with her family, go shoe shopping, and play with the Iowa Women’s Jazz Orchestra.
